I am James B. Campbell, an artist creating abstract sculpture art and fine art paintings in Indiana. You can see my artwork at various art galleries, and exhibitions around the country. Presently, my work is on display in the satellite galleries of Broad Ripple Art & Design in Indianapolis.
One goal of my art, for myself and the viewer, is to "real-ize" through the creative process the possibility of discovery. The imagery in my work, informed by the complex and dependent relationship of mind and environment, presents a vision of living by exploring the nature of change. By utilizing diverse materials in my work, whether it is a stack of magazines, “retired” berets or traditional paints, I demonstrate that imagination is transformative. With each brushstroke, each stroke of the chisel, mundane materials and ideas become renewed.
My work has earned praise nationwide. My piece Nemo’s Cay won the Barbara and Albert Turbessi Award at the 49th Chautauqua National Exhibition. In the Healing Power of Art exhibition at Manhattan Arts International in New York City, the book sculpture, Kiss & Reboot was a top winning entry in 2012 and my painting, Across Boundaries also won an Award of Excellence there in 2009.
